Job Description

This statewide specialist consultant works with the division, bureau and department staffs and community partners to advance institutional environmental change and policies that advance the achievement of health equity and the elimination of health disparities in the maternal child health population. Primary duties are to: 1) lead collaborative processes to develop, implement and monitor health equity promotion and life course perspective to eliminate health disparities across maternal child health programs and functions; 2) develop, coordinate, arrange and implement division staff health equity orientations and trainings to achieve health equity and eliminate racial and ethnic disparities; and 3) responsible for health equity promotion and health disparity reduction project management. This consultant fosters and maintains relationships with local, state and national health equity/disparity reduction practitioners and experts, as well as being aware of emerging principles and practices of health equity promotion.

Required Education and Experience

Possession of a master’s degree in public health or a public health related field such as nursing, epidemiology, health education, dietetics/nutrition management, genetics, or speech and audiology; a master’s degree in public administration with a health care administration concentration; a master’s degree in social work with concentration in community organizations/settings; master’s degree in counseling with concentration in community agencies, or masters degree in special education with specialization in blind/visual disabilities.
Four years of professional, post-master’s experience as a consultant in a field of public health equivalent to a Public Health Consultant, including two years equivalent to a Public Health Consultant P11 or one year equivalent to a Public Health Consultant 12.
