Debra Brinson

Executive Director,

School-Community Health Alliance of Michigan

Debra has been a passionate champion of children and youth throughout her entire life and career. Having worked with SBHCs and CAHCs for over 30 years, Debra has a wide range of experiences in public and community health, education, and non-profit work, all of it working to ensure that vulnerable populations have access to health care through a strong public health system and community health centers, educational opportunities, and a strong network of support services. Her longevity in the field is largely due to her enjoyment of challenging the system and thinking outside of the box to overcome the various roadblocks encountered.

Debra was one of the original members of the group who initially formed and started the School-Community Health Alliance of Michigan, with the mission to serve as the voice for school-based health centers in Michigan. As the Interim Executive Director, Debra has an astute and deep understanding of health policy and is always a step ahead in preparing our organization for the future. She excels in building and maintaining relationships with policymakers and community leaders.

Debra is married with three grown children of her own. She also loves to travel, hike, and read, but does her best to avoid having anything to do with cooking if it can be helped!
