SCHA-MI Adds Mt. Clemens SBHC to Billing Clients

Opening a school-based health center can be full of nuances and challenges. That being said, medical billing and reporting struggles should never get in the way of serving kids in need. SCHA-MI has long sought to alleviate these concerns by providing billing services and technical assistance to school-based and school-linked health centers.

Recently, SCHA-MI added the Mt. Clemens School-Based Health Center its list of billing clients. Opening in September of this year, Clem Care services students at both the middle school and high school (which share a campus) and other adolescents in the community. The location is part of Henry Ford Health System’s network of school-based health centers throughout the service area.

SCHA-MI’s services for “Clem Care” include performing charge entry for the center and answering any billing questions and concerns. SCHA-MI has also helped Clem Care update their encounter forms to prepare for ICD-10 and generate specified reports on asthma, immunizations, and BMI.

The year-round clinic, currently open 24-hours a week, provides primary care services including immunizations, physicals, basic first aid, vision and hearing screenings and referrals, lab testing and chronic disease management for conditions like asthma or diabetes. The clinic is staffed with a nurse practitioner and a behavioral health therapist. Dr. Chris O’Connell provides medical oversight as the health center’s medical director.
