Marie Armstrong

Associate Director,

School-Community Health Alliance of Michigan

Raised in a large family, Marie developed a passion for working with others and helping people at an early age. This passion then shaped her decision to obtain a degree in Child Development and she began her career in the nonprofit sector with the Make A Wish Foundation.  After starting a family Marie began teaching with the Great Start Readiness program which serves low-income, at-risk children and families. It was during this time she recognized the importance of access to quality education, healthcare, and community resources.

With this revelation driving her, Marie continued to seek opportunities to serve the needs of disadvantaged children and young adults. First as a Family Services Coordinator and Child Protective Services Investigator with the Michigan Department of Health of Human Services, and then as an Associate Program Coordinator with the Michigan State University College Advising Corps.

In total, Marie brings a combined fifteen years of experience in the education, nonprofit, and social services sectors to SCHA-MI. As our Associate Director, she utilizes her skills to oversee the day-to-day operations and contribute to the overall success of our mission.  A master multi-tasker, whether balancing her own family’s busy schedule or juggling projects at the office, Marie understands that organization is key!

When she is not attending a school activity or sporting event for one of her three kids, you will find her enjoying the outdoors, attempting to have an uninterrupted conversation with her husband, or watching anything on HGTV!
